LUXE ON EVE

A winning design in the 2015 City of Sydney Design Excellence Competition, Luxe On Eve features 71 apartments – many offering private balconies and secluded courtyard gardens surrounded by lush green foliage - across two beautifully crafted buildings that reach six levels in height and are visually enriched by the textural and tactile qualities of the natural materials used in their construction.

The design draws inspiration from the former industrial fabric – dominated by dark brickwork (mostly stained from industrial processes), sawn metal roofs and sparks of colour.

The use of brick on the base of the building grounds the building to the areas industrial roots and provides a durable and maintenance free finish for the future residents. The copper coloured metal clad upper levels take on the industrial sawtooth motif, while sparkles of hue are introduced with coloured glazed balconies.

The upper levels of the buildings are designed as ‘sun catchers’ with the external walls angled to capture the northern winter sunlight deep into the apartment and the balconies. On the eastern side the splays are at slightly different angles – opening up to the rear to ensure that the two hours winter sun is achieved.
